In Practice

EST is active in promoting the good health and wellbeing of our staff and has introduced key policies and procedures including Fitness For Work Policy, Health and Wellbeing Policy, Duty of Care Statement and regular Toolbox Talks. We also have an Equal Employment Opportunity Policy to formalise our approach to promoting a fair and equitable workplace.

Education is an enduring task in our business as we are constantly learning on the job and through structured channels such as third-party accreditations. EST staff may even be considered lifelong learners. Our business partners with local schools including Hunter Trade College to provide work experience for students as we believe in upskilling the next generation.

Our business has ambitious growth targets and has experienced consecutive years of profit growth which has allowed us to employ more staff. Business success on our terms includes strong profits, a cohesive team of staff, customers with value alignment, offering long term career paths for staff and collaborative industry partnerships. Our memberships with (Australian Security Industry Association Ltd) ASIAL and Hunter iF are some of the ways we maintain industry knowledge and connect with other like-minded businesses to help drive innovation across our sector.

At an internal process level, Team EST takes action to reduce wastage which means we recycle old parts with some manufacturers, have a regular cardboard recycling service, bulk recycle cans & bottles and recycle cable offcuts and batteries. We believe that doing business should not cost the earth. One of the solutions we offer to our corporate clients is integration of their alarm or access control system with their lights and air-conditioning system to save energy when staff are offsite, and the system is armed. We have this feature at our own work premises.

At EST we recognise that our business functions within a broader ecosystem and that we have a responsibility to that ecosystem to not cause unnecessary harm or damage. As our business grows, we are confident that we have the foundations in place to ensure that we remain true to our values and continue to make a positive contribution to the achievement of as many Sustainable Development Goals as we can.
